Where have I been, what have I been up to?

I can scarcely believe that it’s July already and I’m sure I’m not the only one!

So where have I been and what have I been up to? Well, sadly, not writing as much as i would like. The Christmas writing challenge is still ongoing six months later but I’m taking small solace in the fact that I haven’t actually given up on it. I still have the same passion for the story as I did in the run up to Christmas when I first started writing it. I’m not sure how long it will be when it finishes but I’m about half way through (I thought it would be finished at this point) and the manuscript is about 40 pages long. A bit longer than expected for a short story! Still, I’m very excited about the story and the characters within and i hope to finish it in the next couple of weeks. From there it needs typing up (yes I write long hand), editing and then who knows, maybe you’ll be able to read it?

One thing i really need to work on over the coming weeks and months is discipline. Getting myself sat down behind my desk with pen in hand. Once I’m there it’s fine. I can stay there, I can write. I just need to be more forceful on myself to put down the controller, turn off Elder Scrolls Online, close my kindle and sit my ass down at the desk, If i can master that, i can overcome these unnecessary gaps and delays in writing. Pray for me, I might need it.

Beyond that, I haven’t really been up to much these past months. Day job takes up way more time than I would like. I’ve been on a short holiday with my family which was lovely, got myself another Tolkien tattoo and gained a slight obsession with the PlayStation Portal. I have big plans for stories going forward. Plans that I don’t even know if I’m ready for but these ideas have been living rent-free in my head for years. It’s time to let them out!

Stay tuned for what’s to come. I hope that maybe some of you will be as excited as I am.

Until next time, friends.
